Hi, I am Annika Paradise.

Freelance writer and writing coach.

Bio What I do

Annika Paradise

Within a month of graduating from the University of Vermont, Annika Powell Paradise left the shores of safety and served in the Peace Corps in Thailand. She taught English in a rural high school and trained teachers in English Language pedagogy. When she returned to the US, she worked in refugee resettlement before earning her MA in Education from Stanford University. Over the next five years, Annika taught in both public high and middle schools. In 2003, Annika began working at Naropa University as adjunct faculty teaching both creative and research writing skills. She also coached students at the Naropa Writing Center. From 2005-2015, Annika focused on caring for her three kids, four chickens, two ducks, one husband and a pug. Currently she enjoys the flexibility of working one-on-one with students as well as furthering her own writing.

More About Me

I was asked to play the part of the Goddess Athena for the Shining Mountain Pentathlon. Having never attended a Pentathlon, I had no idea what I was agreeing to do, but I’d never actually worn a toga for a whole day, nor released doves, nor carried a lit torch at the head of a parade of athletes. I was game.

Testimonials

Anni is uniquely talented in helping me to understand the underlying issues I want to get across in my writing. I’m a much stronger writer as a result of Anni’s advice.

Elizabeth ‘Bets’ McNie

She helped me a ton and it was an easy, clearly presented process that helped me fix up my essay without losing my voice in the writing. She made sure I hit all the key things that really took my essay to the next level while covering ideas colleges look for.

Riley SwiftSenior at Boulder High School

For someone whose first language isn’t English and had never written papers before, Annika’s excellent guidance and support throughout my first semester in the Unites States has helped me grow as a student. With her background in education, she understands students well and is very dedicated towards their priorities and goals.
